PASSED SELF
-
Six Missing’s Passed Self is a meditation on growth, moving onto new chapters, letting go of the past and old ways of being and embracing a new version – perhaps even accepting what is.
It focuses on quiet moments and lets the arrangements breathe alongside the listener’s life. Instruments were chosen from his collection of vintage analogue synths to best suit the pieces – aiming to keep warmth, heart, and his human touch at the forefront.
Passed Self is of course a play on words, in classic Six Missing form, but is also an image of one’s self being passed on to a new self. Six Missing invites the listeners to allow the record to accompany them during moments of high stress, travel, late nights, and any moment where you may want to focus in on the smaller details.
Thank you for listening.
Tracklisting:
“Mourning Routine”:Opening this record with the warm fluttering synth tones of his vintage Moog Memorymoog, Mourning Routine places the listener in a weightless and formless present moment, enveloping them with warmth and spaciousness. The perfect backdrop for a morning commute, traveling on airplanes, or voyaging into outer space on Artemis missions.
“Pulling Together,”
begins with field recordings of being with family meeting his nephew for the first time. The field recordings lay the groundwork for the Korg PS-3100’s warm and round tones to fall gently upon the listener’s ears. This track is perfect for ambient chillout sessions, new ambient listeners, and electronic crossover playlists. Its breathing room evokes notes of Hiroshi Yoshimura’s environmental work.
“A Dance,”
was originally scored for a ballet of cloud dancers…dancers made of puffy clouds swirling and twirling together. Falling in on themselves and emerging anew. It also evokes images of a silent high speed drive down an empty highway lit in orange hues and glows. An electronic voyage meant to add a little drama and heightened excitement to the mundane.
“Eyes Closed,”
is an improvised meditative performance set to a babbling brook that Six Missing captured while on a hike in upstate New York. The swirling bell-like tones and reversed notes are meant to bring the listener into a dreamlike state. Calming and easing their breathing, the raga feel is perfect for a mid-afternoon mood boost. Perfect for ambient/electronic crossover playlists.
“And Again,”
is a solo piano performance layered with emotional and soft woodwind evolutions transforming into synth-like reverb tails – evoking images of slow motion jet streams drifting across a quiet sky. Guitars delicately enter near the end to round out our listening journey and end on a somewhat unresolved note – opening us up to the next chapter of Six Missing.
