Sometimes we need music that doesn’t distract us — only reminds us to listen.
Six Missing is the ambient music project of Austin-based composer, sound designer, and producer TJ Dumser. Blending layered guitar loops, vintage synthesizers, modular textures, and analog tape processes, Dumser creates immersive soundscapes rooted in presence, emotional clarity, and deep listening.
Since founding Six Missing in 2017, Dumser has built a devoted international audience, amassing more than 200 million streams globally. His work lives at the intersection of ambient music, neoclassical composition, meditation music, and cinematic sound design -- offering listeners space for focus, reflection, healing, and inward exploration.
Releases such as Here For Now (2023) and the modular-driven Without Mind (2025) established Six Missing as a distinct voice in modern ambient composition. In 2026, Dumser returned to his roots with drift, sway -- a minimalist, guitar-forward full-length that trades scale for intimacy. Built around loop-based improvisation using delay pedals, tape machines, and subtle vintage synth textures, the record reflects a deepening of practice rather than a revisiting of the past. "Not to repeat the past," Dumser shares, "but to listen more closely -- to trust restraint and let the music breathe."
Across his discography, Dumser's sound is tactile and human -- balancing warmth and imperfection with spacious atmospheres. Where peers like Brian Eno, Nils Frahm, and Ólafur Arnalds helped define the contours of the genre, Six Missing carves its own path: more weathered, more personal, rooted in the grain of analog process.
Dumser has collaborated with artists including Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, The Album Leaf, SUSS, Foam and Sand, Jamie Lidell, St. Lucia, Ann Annie, Patrik Berg Almkvisth, and Clariloops -- each project expanding the emotional and sonic range of the work. His music has been praised by outlets such as Synth History, Headphone Commute, CLASH, Inverted Audio, and Magnetic Magazine for its analog-forward sound design, emotional depth, and balance of intimacy and scale.
In 2025, Dumser was featured in Amazon Music's original series for World Mental Health Day, with his work highlighted on a Times Square billboard -- a surreal moment of visibility for an artist whose music often lives in the quietest corners of the internet.
The name Six Missing originates from a supernatural experience Dumser had near the historic Battle of Brandywine -- a moment that continues to inform the project's exploration of memory, impermanence, and the unseen.
Ultimately, Six Missing is not music for escape -- it is music for arrival. A soundtrack for presence. A space to breathe. A reminder to be here now.
