Thank you for listening.
DRIFT, SWAY
-
drift is the first movement in a two-part meditation—an invitation to float, exhale, and return to presence. Built around minimal guitar loops, gentle tape textures, and spacious effects, these six pieces lean into lightness and impermanence, offering a sonic environment where stillness feels effortless.
Composed in a state of quiet focus, drift came to life through meditative improvisation using delay pedals, loopers, and minimal layers of vintage synths. At the heart of the process was the Boss DD-20 (set to 16-second looper mode)—a humble but powerful tool that allowed moments to stretch and evolve. Paired with pedals like the Count to Five, Avalanche Run, King of Tone, and subtle swells from the Minimoog and Polysix, the music gently unfolds without urgency.
These pieces are reflections of memory, longing, and peace: the gentle rhythm of an afternoon walk, the fleeting joy of sandcastles, the shifting perception of a momentary wave. Though light in tone, each track carries depth—inviting the listener to slow down, notice their breath, and allow the mind to soften.
drift is music for floating—not away, but inward.
drift, sway – Album OverviewMusic is breath. A thread to presence. A reflection of the now.
With drift, sway, I sought to create a space where sound becomes a gentle pulse—drifting through the air like a breeze, swaying like light on water. These compositions emerged from a meditative state, a process of dissolving into repetition, texture, and resonance. They are not built as songs, but as movements—fluid, organic, breathing.
Returning to guitar as my primary instrument, I let loops and delay pedals guide me into a trance-like flow, where melodies formed like ripples in stillness. My Boss DD-20 (set to 16-sec looper mode) became a vessel for layering evolving motifs, while the MTL.ASMLY Count to Five, Meris Mercury 7, EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run, Analogman King of Tone, and Boomerang Looper shaped the edges of sound into something soft yet infinite. Subtle textures from my vintage Moog Minimoog and Korg Polysix drift in and out, their warmth and imperfection breathing life into the minimal framework.
The album is divided into two movements:
Drift—six pieces that hover in weightlessness, mirroring the ebb and flow of thought, memory, and dream.
Sway—four pieces that embrace stillness in motion, the way we lean into presence without holding too tightly.
Each title is a moment captured—some rooted in memory, others in longing, all in the pursuit of peace. From the flickering perspectives of a momentary wave, to the gentle impermanence of sandcastles, to the deep exhale of breathing room, drift, sway is a meditation on movement and rest, the act of listening as an invitation to simply be.
The final piece, omkara, gestures toward what’s ahead—a sonic mantra, a vibration carried forward, a quiet surrender to the infinite.
This album is an offering: a space to pause, to let go, to breathe. To drift. To sway.
